Quercetin

may help to prevent histamine release. This would help to control allergic and inflammatory reactions in the body. When the body makes histamine for an allergic reaction it depletes the building blocks that the body needs to make carnosine. By preventing histamine release, quercetin helps to retain the levels of carnosine in the body. I have personally found quercetin to be useful for reducing intraocular pressure that can cause cataracts. Quercetin is also reported to repair damage to DNA and to help lower uric acid levels.
