SAMe
(s-adenosyl methionine) is wonderful for the liver. SAME is a methyl donor and a sulfur donor for these reactions in the body. The methyl donating function of SAMe helps with allergies and to offset high histamine. The sulfur donating function is important for detoxification. SAMe is also useful to help the body get rid of excess ammonia. Because SAMe can increase serotonin levels and can help to elevate the mood, caution should be utilized when taking SAMe in conjunction with an antidepressant. High doses of SAMe are also reported to be highly effective for arthritis. A complete B complex should be taken with each SAMe.
