Vitamin C- This helps with the absorption of nutrients in the brain, thus increasing their ability to cross the blood brain barrier. Vitamin C also helps to regenerate glutathione, a critical detoxification substance that is made by the liver. The more vitamin C the better as long as it doesn’t cause problems with loose bowels.
Calcium- The best calcium supplements contain calcium, magnesium, vitamin D and vitamin K. A number of practitioners are not huge supporters of the current trend toward massive doses of calcium. Based on expertise with neurological inflammation, large doses of calcium can actually be detrimental to the body. All the calcium in the world will not get to where it is needed in the body without sufficient vitamin D and vitamin K. Many people who believe they are calcium deficient are actually low in the fat-soluble vitamins D and K. As we age, our ability to break down fats and assimilate these vitamins may decrease. Taking high doses of calcium can also deplete the body’s stores of magnesium. Magnesium is helpful for the heart, for blood sugar levels, for muscle cramping and for the prevention of asthma. Calcium supplements are available that contain vitamin D and vitamin K to help with the absorption of calcium, as well as a ratio of 750 mg of calcium to 500 mg of magnesium to help keep these mineral in balance. For those who desire a 1:1 ratio of calcium to magnesium, you can add additional 250mg magnesium. While there have been reports that calcium helps with weight loss, it has also been reported in the literature that there is an inverse relationship between osteoporosis and hormone sensitive cancers. What this study implies is that the higher the bone density, the greater the risk of beast cancer. This is another reason to use moderation with respect to calcium.

Taken together, this combination works really well.

Chamomile- This is traditionally used as a calming herb and for help with sleep, especially in children. It is actually a natural source of calcium. However, chamomile also helps to control MAPkinase, which is an enzyme involved in triggering inflammation as a result of calcium influx. There is some indication that MAPkinase is involved in the involuntary movement (L.P.) seen in individuals with Parkinson’s disease that are taking medication. Chamomile may help to alleviate some of those symptoms. This is a good herb for those who are concerned about their calcium intake, yet at the same time would like to prevent inflammation as a result of calcium.

Many Chondroitin supplements or combination supplements are of a high molecular weight and are not easily absorbed. It is important to use low molecular weight Chondroitin. It also works well with Glucosamine/MSM supplements. Both of these nutrients are also useful to help with leaky gut conditions, as are often found in autistic children.

For those with blood pressure issues the safest approach would be an oral collinsonia supplement with or without topical cream.
Complete Vitamin and Ultra Antioxidant- This includes vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals to lay the nutritional groundwork. It is preferable to use a complete vitamin that is specially formulated with neurological inflammation in mind. It should have no copper, no iron and limited calcium relative to magnesium. In addition to all the essential vitamins and minerals it should contain milk thistle, N-acetyl cysteine, and selenium to help the body make glutathione (a critical antioxidant made in the liver). It should also include pine bark extract (pycnogenol) to protect the glutamate receptors, and taurine to help balance glutamate and GABA.
Colostrum- This helps to support the immune system. Colostrum is particularly helpful for stomach and intestinal health.
CoQ10- This can be thought of as the “currency” that the cells of your body trade in rather than money. As a result, it is important for your cells to have adequate stores of CoQ10. This will help with energy, build new nerves and help with membrane fluidity. Based on a recent NIH study, more is better with CoQ10. CoQ10 is an important antioxidant for oxidative damage in the body, including in the fat phase, not simply the water phase in the cells. There have been reports that indicate that low levels of CoQ10 are a factor in congestive heart failure. Any individual taking statin drugs should be supplementing with CoQ10 on a daily basis.
