SAMe (s-adenosyl methionine)- This is wonderful for the liver. SAMe is also a methyl donor and a sulfur donor for the following reactions in the body. The sulfur donating function is important for detoxification. SAMe is also useful to help the body get rid of excess ammonia. Because SAMe can increase serotonin levels it can help to elevate the mood. High doses of SAMe are also reported to be a highly effective form of joint support. A complete B complex should be taken with each SAMe.
Saw Palmetto- This supplement should be considered as a part of a daily health regime for males. Saw Palmetto Plus Pygeum- This supplement is similar to the standard saw palmetto with a few additional ingredients that may benefit older men.
Selenium- This is an important mineral in helping to protect yourself from cancer, and also helping to recycle the glutathione in your body. Selenium can be toxic in high doses, so this is not a case of more is better.
Serraflazyme- This supplement is reported to help break down excess mucous. It can be particularly helpful for those who suffer from chronic mucous build up, or during the winter months when congestion can be an issue.
SerenAid- This is often used as a digestive aid for individuals on a GFCF diet, those unable to digest gluten and casein. SerenAid is also another name for DPP-IV, which is a soluble peptidase involved in immune regulation. This enzyme may also be helpful in supporting the immune system. There is a report in the literature that DDP-IV may be helpful in melanoma.
Slippery Elm- This supplement works well for irritated areas.
Soy Isoflavone- There has been a great deal of literature to support the use of soy supplements. Supplementation with soy is best used in moderation.
Spirulina- The use of this blue/green algae works nicely in conjunction with MGN3 or IP6. There are articles to suggest that Spirulina helps to move natural killer cells from the blood stream into the tissues. Combining supplements that are described to help increase natural killer cell activity, with a supplement to move these immune surveillance cells into the tissues, would be using these supplements to their best advantage.
St. Johns Wort- This supplement is a classic in terms of its use for mood, stress and other emotional issues. Other supplements that may work better for emotional conditions are SAMe with a B complex or one of the GABA supplements.
